mtb The Bermasaurs clean up has begun and is still in progress. This is a bit of our test trail to determine if pulling veg by hand for the first year or two (while much less exists) is a worthy effort. Almost every drain has had to be redug deeper that originally constructed to get the water to move off the trail. The trail has begun puking loose rock which has created loose spots that could be dangours for users. Thoseall need to get raked and shoveled off trail. Multiple of the top berms needed to be resurfaced, two due to veg, one due to erosion. Which has led to little progress about .08 of the trail was completed in about 7ish hours of work, but veg is complete through the first .2ish miles of the trail. As a part of the clean up there will be a shovel in every drain, veg will get pulled anywhere on trail where it affects ride lines, and on top of the berms enough to where a compactor can still be used up top if needed. Lips will get touched up as needed which is seemingly almost not needed yet for almost every jump. Gravel will be packed into wet spots where it is possible to do so. Any berm that is begining to erode will get fixed (pending moisture).

The goal of this project is one to keep a trail we paid a boatload of money for running properly, reducing safety hazzards and keeping a consistent ride quality. Goal number two is to track the amount of effort and time it takes to complete all of these tasks to create a baseline for time specs going into the future. Goal number three is to make sure the board understands how much goes into maintaining these high level investments and creating an understanding of how quickly a trail can go from really good to really bad in such a short amount of time, especially when major amount of earth is disturbed in a place with aggressive vegetation growth. Goal number four is the experiment as mentioned above, which may take two seasons to complete. Ok the book is complete, rant is over, I'll be out there next week continuing the effort and very stoked to do so. These are the best kinds of projects/experiments!!!

mtb Fall conditions are beginning! A dry summer has led to a dry fall, so trails across the system are quite dusty and parched. Expect loose gravel or sandy conditions under increasingly leafy trails as autumn progresses. We will leaf blow trails as necessary if weather conditions allow later in October, beginning with the downhill trails and those that hold moisture for longer in the spring. reporter Variableview
