      Clockwise for sure. The accent is manageable and the views up top are beautiful. The descent was short but fun. We went when it was about 53° F which is the perfect temp. There were just a few hiking groups. If there were a lot of hikers, the steep single track section wouldn't be as fun.

      There is official signage for both the east and west cinder knolls confirming you can bike on either trail. On the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve map, the East Knoll is considered multi-use meaning it is sanctioned for bikes. The map indicates the West Knoll is hike only, but when you get there the signs indicate biking is allowed. The West Knoll is a lightly-trafficked hike-a-bike skidder, so most people will stick to the East Knoll anyways.
