Trail appears to go straight up the mountain, but really pretty mild trail. It is pretty smooth trail that is packed down well, but conditions can vary, like if people use the trail when muddy. Most times I have ridden this, it has been a nice slow spin up to the top, with only a few places with embedded rocks, but not loose. Great way to start the loop, and fun and fast down because you can see ahead for much of the trail.
