Direwolf is meant to be ridden in a clockwise direction: by climbing Cartel, up the FSR to the trail head and then the nice long descent to Isobel Lake and the Hairy Backside trail. Please don't ride up the section from Isobel Lake to the FSR, it is steep and riding up creates ruts that are difficult to remove.
