Fired Earth is a trail of two distinct parts. It starts on the View Point road and makes its way down a very stimulating route which starts with negotiating a high volume of rocks on the initial drop down the steep part of the slope, where the gradient pitch reaches more than 1-18% in places. This section is only around 500 metres long, but it’s challenging and the reason for the Red-trail label. The trail then becomes like a hardpack singletrack highway It’s fast, flowing and fun and includes a few jumps and low-risk gap jump as well as a series of flat corners before you have to pedal the last bit to the end of the segment. Fired Earth is a very popular trail among skilled riders and one of the iconic trails at Summerplace Game Reserve.
