This trail will take to the summit of Flood Mountain, one of the easier routes in the Passport To the Peaks program. This is a hike-a-bike in a few sections on the ascent but is completely ridable on the way down. There are nice views of the Grande Cache area from the summit. This trail is what remains of an old exploration road that is slowly being reclaimed by nature. It is however part of the notorious Leg 2 of the Death Race held each August long weekend. If you are starting from Highway 40 the first 2 km are a logging road.
Access Info
Starting at Highway 40 south of Grande Cache the parking spot is located across the road from the Hoff siding, immediately north of the community of Susa Creek. Take the gravel road up to a point where there is a wye in the road take the obvious not logging road to the right. Follow the trail to the summit. Alternately you can drive right to this wye, park well out of the way as it is sometimes this is an active log haul road.
This trail is unsanctioned.
