From the top...The first two and a half miles are on primitive single-track with some loose shale sections, roots and rocks. The trail comes to a road, turn right and follow road for another three and a half miles till you come to a gate and Patrick Creek Road. Cross The road there at what's called Emmons Saddle and continue on an old road bed. The trail turns left off the road bed after a short distance and back to singletrack for the remainder of the new trail. From this point on the trail is machine made with some challenging, but very pedal-able ups. The turns are bermed and well designed to get you the rest of the way to Herron Park. This trail is one to come for and one you'll return to ride again and again.

Access Info

To shuttle, ride to the top of Blacktail Mountain, trail leaves the road on the left side of the road across from the largest golf-ball on earth.

Rode this from Blacktail to Heron 5/27/18
Great trail, however: a whole bunch trees down on upper section . Trail is not marked well, keep an eye on gps if you are unfamiliar. This was my first ride here and I had to double back on a few sections. I have bad trail "luck" so I'm constantly keeping an eye on gps. I should have stayed right on the newly cut trail but wanted to take the B2H trail, which is just an access road for a few miles along the bottom. Still, fun as hell and I will do it again and stay along the ridge until it puts you down to Heron.

Stay on FTBT - is what I mean to say. B2H is not clearly marked. The new trail is beautifully made. My mistake was getting away from it to head down to Heron sooner.

Upper quarter mile is being logged. Lots of hike a bike and not easy hike a bike. 7-22-18

Rode this last night. Was awesome. The logging section is cleaned up no downed trees right now. They are still working in there so there‚Äôs some brush.

Have ridden it from Blacktail summit to Herron Park via both Chase and Patrick and the trail is in great shape. All downed trees have been removed. Patrick needs more use as it seems to be going back to nature, but the trail is still easily identifiable.

Just rode this trail with my husband from Blacktail to Foys and shuttled cars. Great ride. Small technical spots but def a blue run.
