Lake Alpine Loop Details
Even though this is listed as an intermediate ride, there are sections that require some technical skills. You must be willing to walk your bike through sections that you cannot ride without sliding. There is also a difficult creek crossing on the Lake Alpine outlet. There is a bridge across the creek, but it requires a difficult bike push over some granite sections. Highlights include views of Lake Alpine, and the Carson Wilderness Area. Overall, this is a fun, technically challenging singletrack route that is great for intermediate and advanced riders alike.
PARKING: The start/stop point for this loop has limited parking. There is much more and better parking for this trail at the east end of Lake Alpine. From there it is an easy, paved 1/4 mile up the Silver Valley Trailhead Connector to Loop Trail. Another good spot to park is also at the east end of Lake Alpine. Continue east from the lake up Hwy 4 about 1/4 mile to the first large pullout on the right. This is where the Loop crosses Hwy 4 and the trail can be ridden either direction for a 6 mile round trip.
