First off most of this trail is rated green from a technical perspective, still work climbing it, in both directions, the only Dbl Black Diamond is the section from Highline Vista down to Deer Path.

This starts where Musser Gap Trail makes a 90 degree left (when climbing) and follows an old logging cut up past the Huckleberry Loop cut off and on up before you enter the trees and pass through them to connect with the power line. Make a left and follow the power line access road passing the intersection with Musser Gap Trail and then a bit further Lone Pine Trail before you climb to Highline Vista.

Stop here and take in the view for a few minutes. Follow the trail off to the right of Highline Vista and this is where the challenge to your technical skills will become apparent as you work your way to the right hand split that takes you down to Deer Path.
