A rather smooth and easy going trail that sees the traffic of bikers, hikers, runners and horseman on a daily basis. A great area to hone your corning and switchback skills. At the top of the climb take the Mule Ear Lookout to get an incredible view of the valley. Most will ride the trail in a clockwise fashion though either direction is allowed and just as fun.

Riding this clockwise into Cutlers Twist is my favorite route for sustained downhill in NP. A nice change of pace from the usual XC at NP!

Why was the south side of Mule Ear redone?!?! It’s ruined, it’s the same old sanitized bullshit that has happened in the rest of the park. Where there use to be some speed, flow and very mild tech, there is only endless unnecessary corners and grade reversals. RIP Mules Ear, I’m sure the original builder is sick of what has happened to his hard work.

Trail is in great shape but is closed off at the summit with red caution tape. Perhaps some trail damage as it crosses the drainage.
