This is a primarily a hiking trail with portions of it rideable on a mountain bike. There are lots of downed trees and rock faces you have to climb up and down. There are short sections of riding and then you're off the bike. 3:15 there and 3:15 back, couldn't have done it any faster. If it was more of riding on the rock it would've been better. Be prepared, it's a long day!

This trail is very difficult, but rewarding. A fat bike would excel on this trail, but large MTB tires and a low PSI worked well. Very rough, very wet, you'll get off your bike a lot.
That being said, the rocky exposed Canadian Shield sections are an absolute joy to ride, and there is a profusion of excellent rock rolls, small drops, punchy climbs, short rocky techy descents, and some stuff I've only seen in the rockies.

It took me 3.25 hrs out, and 4.5hrs back. Easy access to water if you have a filter, you'll be in shade 40% of the time. Prepare well for this trail, and you will enjoy it.
If you're not ready physically (endurance and upper body strength for the constant front wheel handling) and prepared for a long day, you'll wish you were dead.
PS: don't forget your salts/electrolytes like me.

We hope you've been enjoying Trailforks!
