Starts as a dirt road at the Innerleithen end but is a bit narrower in places. At the end, if you go through the gate, then the gate in the deer fence, it's possible to go left through the new plantation across to the end of the new forest road that starts in Nether Horsburgh and either go up into Glentress or back down to Nether Horsburgh.
If you're coming from Innerleithen, it's a sharp right from the path that starts at the mast.Bit of a slog up past the stables.
