The Sandstone Trail begins at the eastern access to Santa Margarita Lake. The trail traverses the hillside through oak groves on the south side of the lake. The hike leads to scenic overlooks of the surrounding mountains and to a seasonal 40-foot waterfall. The stream cascades over a beautiful sandstone rock formation.
