Starts of mellow but quickly turns into a really tough cardio climb. There are a bunch of really cool flat rock and grippy rock sections for climbing and a rattling descent, which makes the DH sections really fun. Stay to the right for mostly climbing on the way up, though there are still some really tough sections to clean.
I preferred coming down on the east loops.
I met one of the trail buildings out on the double track, and he told me the trail names, but I can't remember, something about a shark or cock. For now these names are provisional.

Quick update on this trail. From my window at my home I can see that near this ridge appears to be on fire on June 14th, 2021. Details on the fire are shown here: news3lv.com/news/local/fire-sparks-in-mountains-west-of-las-vegas . So please avoid this trail area until the fire is put out!

Apparently your geography or reading comprehension is amiss. The fire was 15+ miles west of shark ridge.

There were two fires going on at that time. I put the link to the wrong fire but there was a fire in that area.

Tough trail, should be double black. Easy to get off of the main trail due to cairned hiking routes on the ridge.Need to follow your map or you will end up on some sketchy side trails.

Challenging climb but very rewarding. Unique views of The entire valley and city. A few hike a bike sections but they are short. Downhill is a blast and feels well earned

Relatively tough trail. After a mellow start some rolling terrain over a couple small hills makes for some very difficult climbing. Unfortunately that means you continually have to go down the other side, hence the name. But this also leads to a bit of hike a bike unless you are very strong uphill technical rider on loose gravel. Lacks flow. Coming down the steep sections you climbed up is less than exhilarating. Nothing terribly difficult. One and done ride for me.
