Sterling Valley Details
Dense temperate rainforest of myrtle-beech, tree ferns and sassafras provides a magical setting for this technically challenging but very rewarding track. The track surface is extremely varied including smooth loam, slippery roots and moss covered rocks requiring constant attention. The sustained but gentle ascent of the lower slopes of Mount Black utilises service roads, disused tramway and single-track, while the long descent is almost entirely flowing single-track punctuated by short, extremely technical chutes.
