Very dry but still plenty of grip! More hikers these days, bells are a great idea.

Really rough the first time down...once you find the line I imagine it wouldn't be too bad on a full sus. I did it on a hardtail and it was slow...

Tried out the Dead Cow -> Suicide loop while I was visiting family in Santa Monica. Dead cow may not be impossible to ride up, but is is very difficult, leaving me to assume most push. Also I highly recommend hitting this loop early in the morning or late in the day, there was almost no shade to hide under and being from the PNW I felt like I was dying the whole way up.

Suicide was a blast, the trial is littered with rock garden after rock garden. The dirt is hard packed, but there is plenty of loose dirt and rock all the way down. Throughout the trail there are plenty of jumps and drops, but nothing that screamed pro's only.

Finally, although a DH bike would have been nice, I used a Pivot Mach 6 that I rented and had no trouble, although I did skip a few of the drops. Full face and DH style pads are also not necessary, just use caution.

I'm going to be in the area in a few days and am hoping to grab a quick ride. Where did you rent your bike?

I just rode suicide after the rain and overall it held up well, but the landings on the drops are rutted to hell. A few friends and I want to restore some features and clean up the landings while it's still wet. Hit me up if you're in!

I rode suicide for the first time yesterday. Had a wreck in a rock garden and lost my action camera off my helmet. I hadn't even realized the bracket broke until I got to the bottom. If anybody is riding that trail and finds a black generic action camera 4K, would you let me know? I'd love to see the footage. Thanks

Still a fun ride, especially if you’re local and only have an hour or so to spare, but this trail is unfortunately just not what it used to be due to fires and rain accelerating erosion. Could definitely be brought back to life but it would take a dedicated team of builders.

Rad downhill not for the first time rider. I was pretty gripped the whole time, but the fast rock gardens and a couple jumps made it a blast. I came up from the Comando road and road backdoor on the way up. Great loop

Rode this today, kind of hidden when coming up the fire road, theres a super steep rocky climb up to the “peak” before the trail really drops down and in.

Did it on a hardtail and was a bit out of my element- I consider myself an intermediate to advanced rider but had to walk a few sections due to pure sketchiness (extremely steep and loose sections with boulders everywhere). All in all - very fun but challenging, would recommend a full suspension though.

This just became one of my favorite trails here. Non stop fun, rides well even dry and loose
