Il sentiero prende il nome dal laghetto artificiale dove sbuca ed è uno dei sentieri più belli della Val Seriana, anche nei periodi di bagnato il suo fondo tiene benissimo essendo principalmente di bosco misto aghi.
All'inizio il sentiero non presenta difficoltà particolari. Successivamente si passa sopra a un roccione e dopo un passaggio S4, il sentiero prosegue molto tecnico S4/S3, oppure meno tecnico seguendo i tornanti.

Passato questo tratto molto tecnico il sentiero diventa un bellissimo S2+.
Il sentiero ha ancora qualche tratto leggermente esposto (in particolare un tornantino) al quale è meglio comunque porre la giusta attenzione.

Durante la discesa sono presenti molti tagli che sconsiglio di fare se volete godervi il bello di questa discesa.
