A good trail and a fun loop with lower lower. I finished this with Budd’s Trail and did the loop opposite the Trailforks recommended direction. If you look at the elevation profile for this and Budd’s you can see why I chose this, and I wasn’t sorry. A key difference in this choice is what you do with the connector trail, 739a. In the recommended direction you’d be swooping down this road at speed, which is probably fun and certainly easy. I did it as a climb—one of the only climbs in Crested Butte that I actually enjoyed because the grade is steady, not too steep, and the rocky section isn’t bad. Adding the elevation on the road/739a makes this trail and Budd’s More fun.
