The Kaslo and Area Outdoor Recreation Society (KORTS) is a community based, not-for-profit charitable society encouraging community and visitor participation in outdoor recreation and sport activities, especially, but not limited to, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, mountain biking, hiking, running and the like.
KORTS in cooperation with The Kaslo & District Community Forest Society and the Ministry of Natural Resources has a Recreation Tenure for an area along the south-west flanks of Mt Buchanan (Mt Buchanan Rec Area). The area is designated multi-use with the developed use intended to be for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ski touring in the winter; mountain biking, hiking, running & horse riding in the summer.
The Kaslo Mountain Bike Club (KMBC) is a volunteer-driven, not for profit organization that works closely with local trail builders, organizations and land managers to sustainably develop trails for non-motorized use within Kaslo, BC and the surrounding Area. We are a club of KORTS and our mission is to advance and maintain an economically important community asset for the enjoyment of local residents and visitors alike, and to provide a unified voice for cycling enthusiasts in the Kaslo and surrounding area while supporting and spearheading appropriate trail development in a planned and ecologically sensitive manner.
