Wienerwald Trails - The mountain bike initiative for the Wienerwald
We are a community of bikers who are committed to a modern, attractive MTB offer in the Vienna Woods. We want to work out solutions for this with all user and interest groups. Modern routes can only be realized together with mountain bikers!
We want:
+ be a contact for all mountain bikers in the Vienna Woods.
+ Authorities and institutions make our resources and knowledge available to create a more attractive route network.
+ convey a positive and nature-friendly image of our sport.
where we come from
The Wienerwald Trails project originally arose from a simple question: are we bikers satisfied with the status quo in our area? Originally, this was only discussed in a small group during joint tours, but the question soon arose as to how other mountain bikers felt about this topic. The discussion was continued on the Internet, and a first meeting was arranged.
The crowd at this first, official meeting was greater than expected and it quickly became clear that we wanted to work together on a better future for mountain biking in the Vienna Woods. The founding of an association as a platform for common interests was the logical consequence.
Our sport is booming and needs representation towards the authorities and other interest groups. We want to take on this responsibility!
Since our foundation in 2014, the association has legalized and realized many actual single trails as well as four built routes. The current condition of the route network in the Vienna Woods has thus moved a little closer to the current requirements and developments of the sport. There is still enough to do: Existing attractive trails must be better connected and legal access must be made possible for everyone. Of course, a route network should also be implemented over large parts of the Vienna Woods, together for everyone!
We want to develop an effective usage concept for the Wienerwald region to enable mountain bikers and other nature lovers to live together in a sustainable and harmonious way. Therefore our goal is:
The creation of an attractive, legal and connected route network for all ages and skill levels.
We stand for a conflict-free and sustainable use of the Vienna Woods as a piece of nature worth protecting!
