We enjoy promoting mountain biking and encouraging you to get outside. Why fat bikes? With a fat bike you’re not limited on the tire width. You can run up to 5-inch wide tires and any size below that if you wanted — 27.5+, 29+ and 26. Fat bikes are like monster trucks, the jeeps of the bike world. They can go anywhere and are unlimited compared to our skinny tire bikes. You can ride through all four seasons and all surface types on the same bike with minimal trail impact. That’s the key in the desert — low impact, especially as things get drier. Sand dunes, snow, arroyos, cobblestones, riverbed, and hard pack — you name it. Fat tires help build and roll in the trail so you’re actually doing trail maintenance as you ride. Smoothing out all those skinny tire ruts is an extra bonus for your local singletrack. Other benefits include more traction and stability.
