Stewards of the Sequoia operates primarily on public lands across the western Sierra Nevada, especially in and around Sequoia National Forest and nearby BLM lands. According to their own site, they’ve been the "largest on‑the‑ground volunteer organization in the Sequoia" since 2004, maintaining over 4,000 miles of trails on Sequoia National Forest, Bureau of Land Management land.
Based in Wofford Heights, California (Kern County), they actively support trail access and maintenance across:
- Sequoia National Forest (including single‑track motorized trails and hiking routes)
- BLM-managed lands surrounding the forest
They work closely with the USDA Forest Service, BLM, and State Parks to keep trails open, clear fallen trees, reduce erosion, and advocate for motorized and non‑motorized trail access .
