# Sawtooth Coalition

The Sawtooth Coalition is a collaborative partnership of nonprofit organizations, public agencies, local businesses, community leaders, landowners and conservation stakeholders working together to protect, steward and enhance Idaho's Sawtooth National Recreation Area (SNRA). Formed to build on decades of successful partnerships within the region, the Coalition provides a forum for addressing landscape-scale challenges while balancing recreation, conservation, community resilience and the long-term health of one of the American West's most treasured mountain landscapes.

Rather than serving as a trail management organization itself, the Coalition brings together diverse partners to identify shared priorities, improve communication and coordinate projects that benefit both visitors and local communities. Its collaborative approach focuses on protecting the SNRA's outstanding natural, scenic, historic, recreational and ecological values while supporting sustainable outdoor recreation and stewardship across the region.

Current areas of collaboration include trail stewardship and maintenance, visitor education, wildfire preparedness and resilience, habitat and watershed protection, invasive species management, recreation planning and community engagement. By encouraging cooperation between land managers, conservation organizations, recreation groups and local businesses, the Coalition helps ensure that the Sawtooth National Recreation Area remains a world-class destination while preserving the qualities that make it unique.

The Coalition complements the work of long-established organizations such as the Sawtooth Society and other conservation and recreation partners by providing a collaborative framework for addressing emerging issues that extend beyond the scope of any single organization. Through shared planning, information exchange and coordinated stewardship, the Coalition seeks to sustain the exceptional landscapes, trails, rivers, wildlife habitats and outdoor recreation opportunities that define the Sawtooth region for future generations.
