Overview
O'Bannon Woods Mountain Biking (OWMB) is the Southern Indiana chapter of the Hoosier Mountain Bike Association (HMBA), a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to developing, maintaining, and advocating for sustainable natural-surface trails at O'Bannon Woods State Park in Harrison County, Indiana. Working in partnership with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the chapter helps manage one of Indiana's premier mountain bike trail systems while promoting responsible trail stewardship, outdoor recreation, and environmental conservation. As one of HMBA's three chapters, OWMB supports the organization's statewide mission while focusing its efforts on serving riders, volunteers, and public land managers in Southern Indiana.
What We Do
OWMB builds, maintains, and improves natural-surface trails designed to provide high-quality outdoor recreation while protecting the park's natural resources. The chapter organizes regular trail work days, volunteer stewardship projects, group rides, skills clinics, races, and community events that welcome riders of all ages and experience levels. Volunteers work closely with park staff to ensure the trail system remains sustainable, enjoyable, and accessible for future generations. Memberships, donations, and volunteer support directly fund trail construction, maintenance, tools, equipment, and future trail development projects.
Trail Areas
OWMB is the primary trail steward for the O'Bannon Woods State Park Trail Area, maintaining and improving its purpose-built singletrack and backcountry-style trails in partnership with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
