SATA is a dedicated group of community volunteers that was formed in 2010 to design, build, and maintain multi-use recreational trails in the Salem, Oregon area. SATA is committed to building sustainable and connected trails that provide health enhancing recreational opportunities for public use while preserving our local green spaces.
Multi-use trails are a valuable community resource that provide health enhancing recreational benefits for area residents and other trail visitors. In addition to the health benefits, trails have the potential to impact environmental and economic quality by:
•fostering a sense of stewardship among trail developers and users;
•helping visitors understand the value of open space;
•supporting businesses along the trail;
•creating opportunities to initiate ecosystem restoration; and,
•providing alternate modes of travel
