As trail organizations expand, they often encounter an inflection point where existing volunteer structures struggle to meet increasing operational demands. This session offers an educational overview of how to navigate these growth phases by aligning strategic priorities with board governance and staffing models. We will examine how a clear strategic focus prevents burnout and ensures that new resources, whether a piece of equipment or a paid staff member, advances the mission of the organization.
What you’ll Ride Away with:
By the end of this Leadership Lab, participants will be able to:
-- Identify the internal and external triggers that necessitate a shift from reactive operations to proactive strategic planning.
-- Understand the transition from a hands-on working board to a strategic governing board to improve organizational stability and succession.
-- Develop a criteria-based approach for hiring personnel that ensures professional roles are integrated into the long-term organizational strategy.
