About IMBA:
The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational association whose mission is to create, enhance, and protect great places to ride mountain bikes. Since 1988, IMBA has been bringing out the best in mountain bicyclists by encouraging conservation-minded riding, volunteer trail work, cooperation among different trail user groups, and grassroots advocacy. We join forces with land managers, trail advocates, and community members to bring positive change through trails.

See our impact map, along with our Local Member Organizations, on IMBA.com.

We’re here to help communities build new trails, maintain or improve what they have, and increase the effectiveness of their trail organizations. Reach out if we can assist you!

Explore our Programs:

IMBA Foundations: Foundations are in-depth workshops designed to catalyze the next generation of great places to ride mountain bikes. Attendees will learn what it takes to create a model trail community and return home with the knowledge and guidance for how to make it happen.

Trail Care Workshops: Trail Care Workshops equip volunteers and organizations with the skills necessary to maintain modern mountain bike trails in partnership with the local land management. This course will begin with sustainable trail design principles, such as drainage via grade reversals. Covering these principles will help develop trail-wise eyes before heading out into the field to assess maintenance needs, identify appropriate solutions, and develop the techniques to implement solutions effectively.

Trail Accelerator Grant: To grow the quantity and quality of mountain bike trail communities, we need to accelerate the pace of trail building. Trail Accelerator Grants provide a jump-start to communities that have the interest and political support to develop trail systems but need assistance to get projects up and running, or need further education and resources along the way. This is a non-cash grant of our Trail Solutions professional planning and design services.

Trail Solutions: Our team of planners, designers and builders offer a full suite of services that span every step of the trail development process, from community visioning and engagement through to professional signage packages. Check out our Statement of Qualifications to see our expertise and representative projects.
