# Annual Shuswap Cycling Club XC Race

**Saturday, September 26, 2026**
**Start time: 9:00 a.m.**
**South Canoe Trails**

Join us at the South Canoe Trails for the annual Shuswap Cycling Club grassroots XC race

This is a low-key, fun race—but it will test your fitness and riding. The course climbs the Ida View section of the Larch Hills Traverse, descends through Rubberhead, travels back through the lush Larch Hills Nordic trail system, and finishes on the fast and flowy South Canoe trails.

1. **Self-supported event:** Participants are responsible for their own navigation, well-being and equipment throughout the race. Route markings will be limited and primarily located through the Larch Hills Nordic trails. You are responsible for being familiar with the route. The route is available on Trailforks.

2. **Course marshals:** There are no course marshals. If you encounter a rider who needs help, you are required to stop and assist. Call 911 in the event of an injury or emergency.

3. **Aid station:** The only aid station will be at the Rubberhead parking lot. It will have a limited supply of snacks and water. Participants must carry enough food and water to complete their course.

4. **Courses:**

* **Long course:** Riders will travel from South Canoe to Rubberhead using the Ida View section of the Larch Hills Traverse. From the top of Rubberhead, the course descends to the Rubberhead parking lot before climbing back up Double D and assorted trails to the top of Hemlock Glide. Riders will then return to South Canoe through the Larch Hills Nordic trails. See the Trailforks route for details.

* **Short course:** Riders will skip the descent to the Rubberhead parking lot. From the top of Ida View/Hemlock Glide, riders will return to South Canoe through the Larch Hills Nordic trails. See the Trailforks route for details.

5. **Categories:** Men’s and women’s categories for both the long and short courses. That’s it.

6. **Timing:** Old school. Everyone starts together, and we do our best to keep track of when you return to South Canoe.

7. **E-bikes:** Sure, fill your boots—but no one cares about your time.

8. **Prizes:** A crisp high five and bragging rights.

9. **After-party:** Chili and bannock will be provided for all participants.

10. **Assessment of ability:** Participants are responsible for assessing whether they have the fitness, riding skills and navigation ability required to complete their chosen course.

11. **Safety:** Each participant is responsible for their own safety. Carry the necessary navigation tools, food, water, clothing and repair equipment to remain self-sufficient throughout the race. All participants are required to stop and assist any rider in need along the course.
