SaveFive Points sits 30 minutes south of downtown Chattanooga on the scenic plateau of Lookout Mountain, spanning former coal-mining terrain. The system offers 38 miles of interconnected singletrack, making it the largest trail system in the region with a great mix of trails. The multi-use trail system boasts rolling terrain, technical features, and is big enough for full-day endurance rides.
At the heart of the system is a massive multi-trail junction where nine trails radiate outward like petals of a flower. From here, every ride becomes a choose-your-own-adventure. Chase the flowing pump-track feel of Slickenside, take in the views from Hanging Wall, or test your precision on the stacked-boulder tech of Caprock. The discarded Torino hidden in the woods is one of the most iconic photo spots in the Chattanooga trail network. 5 Points also connects to the Cloudland Connector Trail (CCT), linking toward Cloudland Canyon State Park toward Chattanooga as part of the River to Clouds Route.
Amenities: There are 3 main trailheads (Five Points, Ascalon and Nickajack), each with a privy and gravel parking. There is a $10/vehicle parking fee at each trailhead, including Cloudland Canyon State Park, which has a visitor center, flushable toilets, disc golf course, camping, cabins, and yurts.
Five Points sits on land managed by Georgia State Parks Department of Natural Resources as part of Cloudland Canyon State Park.
The system is shared with hikers and equestrians. Bikers always yield to horses.
The trails wind through the former Round Mountain coal mining district, active from 1858 to 1947. After the mines closed and the land changed hands, SORBA Chattanooga and Lula Lake Land Trust built the trail system now known as Five Points. Every October, the Five Points 50 Endurance Race hosted by Lula Lake Land Trust brings hundreds of riders to the area to challenge the 50 mile course.
