Starts off on an old Road bed then meander through a clear-cut and is extremely difficult to follow then re-enters the national forest and is nice enough although it is never really a downhill. Sounds like the next trail over is "possibly the best singletrack section ever" so I will ride that next time. There's some mandatory hike-a-bike sections on the way up (unless you're the world's greatest climber) and a few difficult climbs on the way back down. Still, the value of Three Tree Butte is that it lets you get up to the Palouse Divide Road without having to go up and over into another valley from Giant White Pine. There were 3x trees down across the trail. Talked with a ranger who was on his way to do maintenance (with a trail-cat) on the Old Sampson Road connector. Hopefully they'll make it to Three Tree Butte soon. | Variable | view |
