Aug 18, 2021 @ 7:58pm Aug 18, 2021 | hike Aug 18th 2021. Road and trail conditions are very good. Directions on Trail Forks are very poor. Simply take Settler's Road to Nipika Resort (see directions on their website) Continue past the Resort to Baymag mine. At km 37.5 turn right up double track road and follow to trail head which is well signed. Mine is as km 38 30 minutes to Nipika from Radium Hot Springs. 30 - 40 minutes past Nipika to trail head. ACTIVE MINE ROAD. DRIVE WITH CAUTION. PULL OVER FOR LOADED MINE TRUCKS COMING OUT. I would not consider this trail for biking - only hiking. Plenty of spring fed soft conditions which would quickly become mud pits and environmental damage to the alpine. Lots of berry bushes but very few berries this season. | Variable | view | |||
Jun 8, 2021 @ 6:22pm Jun 8, 2021 | hike Road condition excellent to the Baymag mine. Aurora Creek FSR is reasonably good, with one washout creek crossing, requires high clearance... An SUV is good. Trail condition is generally good. Appx 10 downed trees, one logjam over the trail. Clearing would require a reasonable chainsaw, not a huge one. Some light snow cover over trail near the lake, all navigable. Some marshy sections, some sections where a creek is running down the trail. No big problem. | Variable | view |
