Description:
The vehicle road had a washout south of the lake 1/2 mile from the trailhead and there was a stream running across. It was passable by bike, although quite rutted, and cars did not venture up beyond this point. Rode to within of 200 feet of the upper 401 trailhead before hitting a significant snowfield. We turned around at the snowfield and entered 401 at Rustler’s Gulch. There were downed trees and avy debris as well as difficult river crossings We bailed at the earliest opportunity.

Give it until June 7 or later for snowmelt concerns Trail crews are going to need help getting the trail cleared.
