Several snow drifts remain on the forested climb. While they are passable several large trees also down. Descent is in good shape, though.

Deep snow drifts in the trees climbing up from 317 at Schofield pass. Probably open once you get out of the trees, but we didn't make it that far.

Muddy trail up top that made it barely rideable from Scholfield pass to the high point of the ride. Once the trail reaches the southern exposure,...

Covered in snow, cow shit and mud as of 9/30. The cows have done a number on this one, and that number is #2.

Is the second climb worth the final descent on this one?

Brutal climb if you’re from sea level but well well worth it for the high alpine views and long descent

We absolutely love the 401 trail, be cautious as you head down through the tall grasses. We came across a lot of wildlife and babies during the early summer.

      Ride aware, save a (wild)life!

I would describe this trail as beautiful and scenic but for me the quality of riding was not my favorite. Too much sidehill for my liking and very overgrown with hardly any line of site. This by far was the most scenic trail I have done but I prefer the riding of Dr. Park and Teocalli Ridge over this ride, those trails had more variety and the riding just more playful and fun. The 2nd climb and last bit of downhill on the 401 was my favorite riding part. I still think this trail is worth riding to check it out, maybe you will be a huge fan, the views are amazing and climb up is pleasant and beautiful. As of 7/20/19 this trail goes, there is a snow patch you have to walk across before emerald lake on the road but its easy and then a bit of snow through the single track in the woods but all easily doable.

The trail itself isn't going to blow your mind, but the views absolutely will. Your jaw will literally drop.

Great trail. Great views. Fun and flowy with narrow singletrack requiring your attention at all times. Must do.

Amazing views. Trail itself is just decent and badly needs some love especially up top. This trail is sadly did not meet the hype and the break and moto bumps which usually makes trails more fun for me just kinda killed the cat on this one. It's meant to be smooth flow not bumps. Needs some love badly. Potential is there.
