Description:
Trail work update as of Dec 20, 2020. 7 volunteers continued brushing and small to medium deadfall clearing work. This took place starting 1.3 miles in from Arcadia campground through to 1.7 miles in. Scouting from our chain saw guy revealed that the trail becomes heavily obstructed by dozens of fallen trees ascending Arcadia Trail just beyond the Noon Creek Ridge Junction. This means that the trail is unrideable essentially between Noon Creek Ridge junction and the Heliograph Peak junction. The work needing to be done in this area is something that will require a saw crew. This will be recommended to the Safford Ranger District by the volunteer group. Given winter is here, or should be here, it's unlikely that any crews will get to this work until Spring/Summer 2021. The trail tread continues to be impressive and have exciting potential for mountain biking. If you haven't been following the previous updates, please note, that the crossing .5 mile in from Arcadia has been washed out and there is a primitive scramble down the the creek and up the other side. This is marked with orange flags/ribbon. The first set of pink flags is a potential re alignment. Use extreme caution when trying to cross wet canyon especially with a bike.
