Description:
Part of road was recently graded - there are several long sections of very thick gravel that is kinda difficult to get thru on a mountain bike. The windmill blades spin no more as described in report from 2017, it has kind of fallen apart. Very interesting area geologically as the destination is actually within a volcanic caldera. Very green in some areas near the windmill. When I visited it was right after a super bloom and there was an unbelievable number of grasshoppers.

Nice ride in a mountain bike to a creepy steel windmill that ominously turns with a slight squeak. There is nothing around and it's eerily silent.... view
