You can tell a lot of work has been performed here to deal with the post fire restoration, not an easy task. Water is eroding or depositing runoff sediment in some sections of the trail. Wayfinding is a little tricky as you get close to the CCC Icehouse camp due to a lack of signs at some intersections like the Lower 6 shooter/Check Dam trails. You are in a depression that requires a hard left up a section of hard to see trail, where it naturally seems you would want to follow Check Dam. A sign could fix that. On a hot sunny day, you have no shade on this part of the trail, so if you are really toasted after a trip down upper 6 shooter, just take the road back to the campground instead of this trail, you won't be missing much.
