Water is eroding or depositing runoff sediment in some sections of the trail. Wayfinding is a little tricky as you get close to the CCC Icehouse camp due to a lack of signs at some intersections like the Lower 6 shooter/Check Dam trails. You are in a depression that requires a hard left up a section of hard to see trail, where it naturally seems you would want to follow Check Dam. A sign could fix that. On a hot sunny day, you have no shade on this part of the trail, so if you are really toasted after a trip down upper 6 shooter, just take the road back to the campground instead of this trail, you won't be missing much. | Dry | view | |||

Don't be tricked into thinking this is a 3000' decent without some climbing and hiking. There are about six significant downed trees currently. About half way down in the creek area there is a significant land slide that has taken out 15 feet or so of the trail, it's walkable. Surface conditions past the 1/2 way point consists of lots of dry needles and leaves, which can lead to interesting traction situations on the steep sections. Overall, a solid black trail that needs a little love in terms of improving the bench of the trail in some areas. | Ideal | view | |||

Soon hopefully we will have a solution for the pipe and its location within the trail corridor. The pipe is quite high on a nice rocky turn as you come around it.
