Description:
The USDA Forest Service - San Juan National Forest is conducting essential road resurfacing work at Junction Creek, impacting access to the southern end of the Trail.

What: Chip & seal resurfacing of Junction Creek Road (NFSR 171) and trailhead parking lots.

Where: Northwest of Durango, CO, at the Colorado Trail's southern terminus.

When: July 9 - July 23.

CRITICAL CLOSURES:
Colorado Trail Parking Lots: CLOSED July 14-16. No vehicles allowed. Plan for drop-offs/pickups at another location or use Dry Fork Trail #616 as an alternate access. Vehicles left after midnight July 13th will be towed!

Road Delays: Expect up to 30-minute delays on Junction Creek Road throughout the project (July 9-23).

Logchutes Trailhead (up the road from the Colorado Trail Lots): CLOSED July 11. Vehicles left after midnight July 10th will be towed!
Why: The project is being conducted to improve road durability, protect water quality in Junction Creek, and prepare the forest for critical wildfire mitigation efforts.
