Description:
CLOSURE UPDATE: I recently got some info from KC Parks on the timeline of the closure due to the washout between the "Cascadia Pizza" Trailhead in Maple Valley and the Landsburg Trailhead. Photos show approximate location and the scope of the washout. For those that enjoy this nearby section of gravel, it's gonna be awhile. From the parks department:

"Thanks for your inquiry about the Cedar River Trail repair and timeline. Originally this project was treated as an emergency so we quickly developed a set of plans and had a contractor available for repair. During the permitting process we were unable to get support from the Corp of Engineers, WDFW and the Muckleshoot Tribe to treat this project as an emergency, due to significant environmental impacts associated with the emergency repair options.

Subsequently, we are not able to implement our emergency repair plan without support from those agencies and the trail will remain closed while we do a feasibility study and identify several options with less environmental impact. The feasibility study is anticipated to take approximately 12 months, and we will have a better idea of how long it will take to reopen the trail once that study is complete.

We appreciate your patience while we work to repair this trail, and please let us know if you have any additional questions."

Oof, but good on them for taking care of our salmon.

*FYI the entire paved section of the Cedar River Trail is open - closure only affects the gravel portion east of Maple Valley.*
