Description:
The FTA trail crew has cleared the avalanche debris from the camping area on Heiko's trail and almost all of the snow on the trail has now melted. As the remaining snow melts from the slide paths more branches will emerge so if you're hiking through please help out by tossing a few. As of July 28th all blowdowns have been cleared from the Hartley trailhead to Windy Pass. We have reports of a couple of blowdowns between Windy Pass and Tamarack trail, but they are easily passable. Thanks to Island Lake Lodge trail crew for clearing Tamarack Trail! The entire Heiko's trail is in good shape and is now officially open for the 2026 season!

Heiko's trail itself is in good shape, however Hartley Lake Road has a washout making that end of the trail inaccessible by car from the Fernie side. view
