Thanks once again to some very hard work by volunteers, I am pleased to report that ALL of our trails are open after repairing damage from the Dorian Event.
However, the Salt Marsh Trail between the Bald Eagle Bridge and the Ready Aye Ready Bridge is NOT up to full accessibility although safely passable on foot and bicycles. The timing of the final restoration of this section is dependant on when funding will be available. In either case it will not be completed before the planned re-rocking work is done later this month (or early November). This delay is necessary as the re-rocking will provide the long term protection for the trail and the re-rocking work would disrupt any trail surface restoration being done.
When the re-rocking work is started, the Salt Marsh Trail will be closed from the Canada Goose Bridge to the west Lawrencetown Road for a period of about 10 days. CHPTA thanks the Halifax Regional Municipality, the Department of Community Culture and Heritage and the Trans Canada Trail Foundation for their generous funding of this project.
