As ways up mountains go, this is terrible. The first section is pretty good, standard single track climb blending into hike a bike as it gets steeper, though the pain is offset by epic views. However, the down hill from carn a mhaim is so technical it'd make Danny Mac sweat. The saddle traverse at the bottom is boggy, and the climb the other side starts wet and a bit vague, before disappearing into field of ankle snapping boulders, which you have to carry your bike over for a good 200-300m. Once you reach the col, and you kinda think your at the top; you're not. Theres just more bike pushing

Do yourself, your friends, your family and mountain rescue a favour; choose the another route.

Whilst an epic way up the hill, expect to carry your bike for at least half including via a steep boulder field.
