It's partly open to vehicles, there are gates at spurs and sections where there is active forestry work. Best bet if leaving a vehicle on mountain and retrieving it afterwards is probably driving to bottom of Middle Earth, there is some space to park a few vehicles there. Road can be rough in places but I wouldn't say that a car definitely wouldn't make it.

This trail is incredible. The last third is one of the best trails I've ever ridden. Perfect dirt, lots of roots, flow for days and corners that make you want to ride faster and faster each lap.

Gorgeous trail. Less technical than those leading up to it which was appreciated after a long climb.

Great when combined with higher loops and crosstown traffic.

Flowy with a few berms and opportunity for catching air on a couple of shaped hits throughout, all have ride arounds though. No mandatory air required,0 friendly to most abilities.

Fun trail with a few intimidating rock rolls that are worth the battle when you psyche up and beat them.

First half allow you to practise your climbing skills on chunkier terrain. Nice indicator of your progress when you clean the whole climb for the first time. 2nd half is rough blue fun but great to try and conjure a bit of flow on.

Hard, but fun for those who are experts, would rate it a double black

The snow line is at 3.7km into the trail. You can hike to the top of rusty trombone. Just add about 30 minutes onto your ride

This trail was scouted and built by Jesse Murphy in 2009. His reason for building Rusty was that after shuttling Gravitron there was only Overnight Sensation to ride, which in his opinion, was Garbage.

Unexpectedly fun, solid blue with some sections that test the nerves of a blue rider. Quite a few alt lines that were mostly “dark blue”, but some definitely black. Easy flow, numerous pumpable sections that can get hella fast, but still easy to control your speed. A couple lumpy root gardens and rock features, with a surprising number of easy rock or root ledges sprinkled throughout, and plenty of easy lips to pop off. Tabletops appearing around the middle and bottom, nothing giant or scary. A nice way to wind down after Overnight Sensation.

Downhill trails in BC are pretty wicked; i'm used to trails in the US and to me this felt like maybe “one and a half black diamonds”. Definitely not double black, but a few lines were quite impressive with no ride-arounds. I could pick my way down those features, but i wasn't ready to ride them "the right way". Pretty good flow with good sight lines and few surprises, and several optional “big boy” lines. Loose and dusty with rocks when i rode during a dry spell - surely it would tack up with rain but some slopes are pebbly in the dry.
One of the few trails I encountered in BC without any wooden structures; the trail is all natural but expertly built. It makes good use of rocks for features and feels playful. While there are some stiff moves, there's no scary exposure so it would be a good place to work on getting out of your comfort zone if, like me, you're not quite as badass as these BC riders all seem to be!
