Drive north on Miners Creek Road from Colorado HWY 149.
1.6 miles up Miners Creek Road -Forest Service Sign- Shallow Creek Road #508 Turn Left on Shallow Creek Road, Park below the cattle guard. Past the cattle guard is a fork- going left on 508 will give you about 3 miles of gentle terrain with some challenging features and then climbing steeply; most riders prefer taking the right fork to #508.1A and 508.1B. Take #508.1A and proceed up a steep climb of about 3.4 miles. There are several sections of hike-a-bike steepness. After about 3.4 miles, look for a rock cairn on your left after cresting a rise. This is where the singletrack begins that has a beautiful traverse through the aspens and eventually back down to Shallow Creek. This route is about 9 miles back to the starting point

Shallow Creek Loop is a 9 mile less popular intermediate route located near Creede Colorado. This mountain bike only route and has a hard overall physical rating. This route climbs 1,989 ft with a max elevation of 10,661 ft then descends -1,961 ft.
