The Temple Loop is the longest of the three established Dartrey Forest trails and makes a broad circuit through the forest and former Dartrey Demesne. The route combines forest roads, tracks and woodland paths while passing through mature plantations and areas of historic estate landscape. Rolling drumlin terrain produces a succession of modest climbs and descents rather than sustained gradients. Sections of the route provide views toward the lakes and surrounding countryside, while the woodland setting and historic features provide the principal attractions. The route is suitable for experienced recreational walkers and cyclists looking for a longer forest outing, with unsealed surfaces that can be wet or muddy in places.
