This fast-paced mountain biking route has it all: highlights on top of Kukastunturi Fell, some technical riding and relaxed pedalling in a forest environment.

The trail starts on a rocky path descending from Yllästunturi Visitor Centre Kellokas, allowing you to get into mountain biking mode right away. A long gravel trail leading up to Kukastunturi Fell begins at the shore of Äkäslompolo Lake. The views from the top are amazing and the refreshing fell winds are a great way to cool off.

A fast gravel trail takes you down to Kotamaja Lapp hut, and then continues through varied terrain. The narrow trail on the slope of Lainiotunturi Fell runs through pine heaths. After the short set of stairs, you have to watch out for tree roots on the trail until Pyhäjärvi Lake. The rest of the journey takes you along rolling logging roads and ski trails on the northern side of the Pyhätunturi and Kätkätunturi Fells.

Take some time to enjoy the beautiful fell scenery, mire areas and forest-covered fells. Several designated campfire sites along the trail provide good places to take a break.

Accommodation and other services are available at Levi and Ylläs, but the most adventurous bikers can also ride back during the same day.

Mountain bike rentals, transportation and guided tours: Sport Corner Ylläs, Äkäslompolo Sportshop, Lapland Safaris Ylläs at Äkäslompolo; Jemes Sport at Ylläsjärvi; Discover Lapland, Kide Adventure, Laplanded, Lapland Safaris Levi and Zero Point at Levi.
