The North Sandia Foothills are popularly ridden in a counter-clockwise direction, though all trails are bi-directional. Trail 342, ridden in this direction, is a consistent but easily doable climb to where it ends at the intersection with the hiking only Pino Trail and Trail 341. The trail is very smooth and typically wide, making the climb easier than it would otherwise be.
