4S54 connects the Sand Canyon Road near Swall Meadows to US-395 and Rock Creek Road at Tom's Place. This is a very sandy, steep route with little shade.

Used this trail to get to Rock Creek Rd in order to get up to Tamarack Lake and ultimately Sand Canyon Trail. This route sucks. Had to hike at least half of it due to the deep loose sand on steep grades. Major erosion in spots didn't help. I'd consider using Lower Rock Creek Rd. itself, or Lower Rock Creek Trail instead, if you're trying to go up from Paradise to Rock Creek Rd (or to Holiday Campground Connector).
