A fun little addition to the Big Bear ORV trail. Loose, and you gain elevation fairly quickly, or lose it on the way down. Pretty scenic from up here with lots of wildlife.
Follow highway 91 southwest out of Douglas for 23 miles before reaching the end of the pavement. Continue on Cold Springs Rd for 3 miles to a Y in the road. Cold springs takes a jog to the right but you will be taking a left onto Old Fort Fetterman Rd. Follow this for 12.5 miles until you reach a left turn into Labonte Canyon/ Curtis Gulch campground. The trailhead is 3.8 miles in from this point on the right hand side of the road.
