During winter the gates are closed, and the road is open to winter activities. Some snowshoe hikers will use the road to access good hike trails, while snowmobiles will buzz around and branch off the road. It is a nice nordic ski run up to the summit as well.

 The snow starts just before the stop sign. Good crust with an inch of powder. Hikers have made it rough.
